I don't want to do school

Five-year old Charlotte: “Mom, I don’t want to do school today.”

Me: “That’s fine today. So no math, then?”

Charlotte: “Well, math is good. I want to do that.”

Me: “Hmmm … then no handwriting?”

Charlotte: “Handwriting is fun. I want to do handwriting.”

Me: “No calendar? No spelling? No reading together?”

Charlotte: “No, I want to do all of those things! And science and history and Latin. I just don’t want to do school.”

I am still trying to figure this one out. Is it the recess that she wants me to skip?
