Motherhood has given me a real appreciation for the value of five minutes. Before my children arrived, I hadn’t realized just how many essential household jobs can be done in five minutes (emptying the dishwasher, changing a load of laundry, making a sandwich, sweeping a floor). I also hadn’t realized just how rare and precious five minutes of solitude and quiet could be!
“Just five more minutes!” has probably been my most-used phrase as a mother, and now as a homeschooling mom. There is always one more task to do.
This blog has been in part a way for me to reflect on how I and my family are investing the 288 five-minute chunks given to us each day.
