About

“Just Five More Minutes” is a reflection on my journey toward a simpler life – a life that is good for me, for my family, and for the planet.

I’m not a natural at this. I’ve bought into the “more is better” and “new is best” philosophy, and have accumulated a lot of stuff. I have consistently spent outside of my budget, and always had some debt.

I like chocolate, nachos, and coffee more than I like organic dried blueberries, watercress salad, and green tea. Preparing lunch for my kids has far too frequently involved opening a tin of soup or a package of bologna.

I’ve decided that I want to try living a little differently, though. I want to invest in my girls, not in stuff. I want to make healthy choices for myself and for them. I want to think about how I’m going to leave this world for them and their children.

In 2011, we decided to homeschool our children; this site has naturally evolved to include my reflections on, mistakes in, and lessons learned about homeschooling in Canada.
